- What counts as a letter?
- Typically A–Z and a–z. Some tools let you include accented and Unicode letters (e.g. é, ñ, ü). Spaces, numbers, and punctuation are not counted.
- Per word or total?
- Most tools show total letter count for the whole text. Some also show letter count per word or breakdown by letter (frequency).
- Different from character count?
- Yes. Character count includes spaces, digits, and punctuation. Letter count counts only alphabetic characters.
