- What is a bigram?
- A bigram is two consecutive words. For 'the quick brown fox' the bigrams are: the quick, quick brown, brown fox. So you get (word1, word2) for every adjacent pair.
- How is the output shown?
- Typically one bigram per line (e.g. 'the quick') or as pairs separated by a delimiter. You can also get a frequency count (how many times each bigram appears).
- Punctuation?
- Words are usually normalized: punctuation at word boundaries is stripped so 'hello,' and 'world.' become 'hello' and 'world', and 'hello world' is one bigram.
