- What does it do?
- Finds runs of blank lines (two or more consecutive newlines) and replaces them with a single blank line (or a chosen number of blank lines). This gives consistent paragraph spacing.
- Single newline vs double?
- Usually line breaks within a paragraph (single newline) are kept. Only multiple consecutive newlines are collapsed. You can set 'paragraphs separated by' to 1 or 2 blank lines.
- Trim lines?
- Many tools also trim leading/traailing whitespace on each line and remove blank lines at the start or end of the document for a cleaner result.
